Common Questions I am asked
As a doula, there are some questions that pop up rather frequently in my consultation calls. Here are some of them, and my responses!
I see you are a faith based-doula, how does that come through in your work?
As a Christian doula, the first thing this looks like is that I pray for all of my clients and their unborn children. I pray for a healthy pregnancy, a smooth delivery, and a healthy child! Just knowing that you have another person praying for you can be so encouraging!
If my client is not a Christian, I would not bring any religion into their appointments or their birthing space. My entire job is to support you in your choices, and be a calm trusted presence. I would never bring up a faith that you don’t share and wouldn’t feel comforted by!
For my Christian clients, I would bring prayer, scripture, and worship into your birthing space as you desire to help encourage you and spur you on!
How much do you charge? And do you accept insurance or work on a sliding scale>
My fee is $750 and that includes 2 prenatal visits in our home or at your favorite coffee shop, on-call support from 37 weeks, labor support for the entire labor, and 1 postpartum visit where I bring you a hot meal and give you any referrals you may be needing.
I am TRICARE approved! TRICARE will reimburse for doula services and I am approved in their system! Reach out to your insurance to get authorization for a doula and then after the birth you can submit the invoice I give you to be reimbursed for my fee! You can choose to add on 2 additional prenatal appointments, a breastfeeding class and a postpartum care class for $75 each. EDIT- Starting October 1st 2024, I will be an In-Network TriCare provider. Clients will not have to pay me directly, I will be reimbursed straight from TriCare!!
I work on a sliding scale for WIC eligible women. I believe every woman who wants a doula should have one, so I will work with you to find a price you can afford or a payment plan you can keep up with!
What kind of births do you support?
I support many kinds of births!
I have supported many homebirths! I will support a homebirth as long as their is a midwife or other birth professional attending to the birth. I do not attend freebirths at this time.
I attend all kinds of hospital birth! Medicated, unmedicated, vaginal, induced, c-section. Whatever your birth looks like you deserve support for it!
What certifications do you have?
I am a DONA certified birth doula!
I am CPR certified
I am trained to use a TENS unit for labor
I have attended a Spinning Babies training
